👉 The 20/20 Decluttering Rule

I borrowed this tip from Joshua and Ryan of The Minimalists and it is a good one to help you let go of those “just in case” items. Ask yourself, “If I ever needed this item in the future, how hard would it be to replace it?” If you can replace it for less than $20 in less than 20 minutes, donate it. You would be surprised how many things you can replace following this rule! (Note: kids, pets, and spouses are generally not replaceable with the 20/20 Rule… ;))

👉 TIP: Create a “Death Binder”

A Death Binder is the financial information needed in case of your untimely demise. It contains things like a list of bank accounts and their account numbers, which a spouse, partner, or the trustee of an estate will need to wind down your financial affairs. While not a replacement for a will or a trust, it works parallel to them. It provides a one-stop-shop of practical financial information that the survivors will need in the near-to-mid-term to do things like claim life insurance benefits or change ownership of a bank account.

👉 Beware of life weeds

What are life weeds? They are all of the unwanted things that creep in and take root. They compete with the things that matter, consuming time, energy, money, space, freedom, purpose.

Some weeds look a lot like plants. They might be good things, but if they are choking the life out of the things that matter most, then they are weeds.  That upgraded gadget, that fancier vehicle, that extra activity – they can steal your vitality, the same way a weed grows along with a plant and steals the space, light, and water that would otherwise go to that plant.

If you want your plants to thrive, you have to pull the weeds.
