I’m writing this post to let you know that what is now over a $20,000 a year business for me started as something I sucked at.
We have to intentionally and willfully invite pain into our lives. I know you don’t want to hear that, but take it from me, it effing works.
Set aside a certain number of days, during which you shall be content with the scantiest and cheapest fare, with course and rough dress, saying to yourself the while: ‘Is this the condition that I so feared?’
People intentionally play fast and dangerous with their stuff when they know a desired upgrade is available, in hopes that they break or lose it. They call this behavior “motivated carelessness”.
This crucial work isn’t always fun, and is often really hard, like most work. There’s no time card to punch, no 401k plan, and thankfully no creepy guy from accounting.
Playing defense in life – whether it’s intentional or total happenstance – can still result in a successful life and even financial independence. I did pretty good for myself, with no dreams to shoot for.
